Fall '24 generally available release

Exciting news: The latest S-Docs release is here — and with it come some exciting updates.

Fall '24 product launch overview

The upcoming S-Docs Fall ‘24 product release is designed to create a more cohesive document workflow automation e-Signature solution. The newly minted S-Docs e-Signature feature is our first step in unifying the S-Docs and S-Sign managed packages and the overall product experience across platforms.

S-Docs e-Signature updates

We’ve created a new S-Docs e-Signature tool that is unified within the S-Docs managed package. Don’t worry, S-Sign isn’t going anywhere. It will remain as it is today as a separate managed package and coexist with the new S-Docs e-Signature. No major changes have been made to our S-Sign user experience.

This release allows users to quickly and easily construct compliant and secure signature documents that can be bundled up, sent, and presented to signers in a new streamlined multi-document signature user experience. Simply upload a PDF, drag and configure fields onto the document canvas, and send them in one convenient workflow designed to meet the accelerated pace of any modern business.

Our new S-Docs e-Signature requester interface includes:

  • Envelope/requests overview homepage
    • View envelope activity and current status updates
    • Built-in audit view and basic request management tools
  • Streamlined envelope creation user flow
    • Upload prebuilt PDF documents
    • Configure recipients
      • Support for sequential and non-sequential signature flows
      • PIN code authorization options
    • Drag and drop fields with configurable options (right onto the document)
      • Signature/initials
      • Date
      • Free text
    • Final overview and email preparation interface
    • Secure delivery
  • Default notification and expiration warnings
    • 30-day expiration on all sent envelopes
    • 5-day and 1-day (24 hours) notifications for request expiration

Our new e-Signature signer interface includes:

  • A refreshed document interface
  • Built-in authorization and consent flow
  • Support for multiple document execution in one interface
    • Convenient thumbnail view with signature input navigation
  • Final/completed document delivery with audit trail

S-Docs feature management

Our Fall ‘24 release includes new feature management capabilities for the S-Docs product suite. This changes how S-Docs product entitlements are procured for subscriber orgs as we will now use feature flags on specific feature sets in the managed package.

Feature entitlements are controlled by an internal user interface in the S-Docs production org’s license management app. Through our procurement process, S-Docs team members will be able to set the specific entitlements for subscriber orgs through a simple UI. If not set, orgs that run on the applicable release with feature management enforcement will be subject to the default limitations and controls listed below:

  • Automation feature controls
  • Document generation limit control
  • Envelope creation limit control (S-Docs e-Signature only)
  • Trial mode
  • Entitlement override

Notable LWC, SDK, and general enhancements

Since last year’s unveiling, S-Docs has made significant progress in the available functionality offered through the optimized performance methods of the S-Docs LWC and SDK suite. Users can now achieve various additional use cases through our expanded library of flow-ready invocable Apex actions and explore enhanced compatibility with our legacy methods through the offering of simple Lightning Web Components. Below, you’ll find a brief overview of some of the enhancements we made over the past year:

S-Docs Lightning Web Components (LWCs) enhancements

  • Support for legacy generation methods when saving as files (no attachment support)
  • Expansion for multiple generations from a single template
  • Manual template selection UI
  • Local file upload support for email attachments
  • Updated editing experience in live edit and email modals
  • Expanded support for Experience Cloud implementations

S-Docs SDK enhancements

  • Flow-ready Invocable Apex Action Library
    • Generate a document
    • Generate documents with user input from Screen Flows
    • Generate documents in batch with combine functionality
    • Prepare and seal envelopes for signature execution
      • Support for multiple documents
    • S-Docs Document Refresh SDK
    • S-Docs Email SDK
  • Added support for authenticated and unauthenticated Experience Cloud use cases

Document Actions support for custom Apex classes

Originally introduced in the May ‘24 release, Document Actions provide a framework that accepts custom Apex classes in addition to our out-of-the-box external storage integration classes. Salesforce developers now have the ability to define their own custom actions for the S-Docs Action custom object (SDocs__Action__c) and configure on template records by simply adding the class name to the related actions panel.
